POSITION PURPOSE
LCFS’s Grant Writer Specialist will work to uphold and build upon the agency’s mission and outreach through researching new grant opportunities, maintaining existing grant contacts and adhering to all necessary deadlines and reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Manage all new and existing grants, including writing letters of intent, completing applications, meeting application deadlines and completing requested calls or meetings with potential interested grant funders

2. Coordinates with other agency staff to obtain and update statistical information and data on clients served, community needs, population served (i.e. financial needs), etc.

3. Maintain and update program overviews, concurring with agency needs and CEO requests

4. Once a grant is obtained, ensure that all required reports and deadlines are met without exception

5. Form and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and grant managers

6. Develop and execute a method to discover untapped granting sources

7. Maintain a file and calendar of all contacts, deadlines, amounts requested, amounts received and coordinating dates

8. When requested, provide a written and/or oral report to the CEO and Board

9. Fully understand the history, intent and mission of LCFS and be able represent the agency to potential funders

10. When a grant is received, provide CEO, COO and accounting agency with amount, terms, restrictions (if any) and dates

11. Obtain necessary information from CEO and/or COO including budgets (operating, program and satellite locations, annual 990s, audits and other routinely required information

12. Represent the agency to the community in a professional, positive, Christian manner

13. Willingness to provide a presentation at community functions that are in a geographic area that may necessitate travel

14. Performs other duties as required by the Chief Executive Officer

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

Bachelor’s degree with 10 or more years’ experience in Fund Development, Communications, Marketing and/or other related field.

Strong written, verbal and personal communication skills. Ability to write concise applications and

reports, often within required word counts. Ability to research current community needs. Ability to

effectively present information and respond to questions from funders, clients, and the general public.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Makes decisions daily on use of resources, performance and outreach opportunities.
